Dinner Guests and Grey Gardens

It's Monday!

Lulu was really just playing in this photo, but doesn't she look scary???

Yesterday we had some lovely dinner guests- Leslie and Sam, Jeremy's sisters! Ellie, our niece, joined us later! I really love the idea of a big Sunday dinner, but can't seem to pull it off. I somehow inherited a really bad trait from my grandmother--- that is, I must dirty up every available cooking utensil and dish in order to cook one meal. Seriously, I did 3 or 4 loads of dishes, besides what I put in the dishwasher!!! And I was trying, too, to keep it simple! Dinner was ok, as I tried a few new recipes since Sam's a vegetarian. Also, when I try to make too much, not everything turns out. So maybe I should try one pot meals, or something easy, like Lasanga, but I tried a bunch of Ina's recipes, which require more attention than I'm used to.

Check out Sam's hair! She just did it this past week, and I think it looks great. I wanted to post a bunch so she could post whichever she wanted to her webpage. I like her style!

It's always nice to see them.

On a completly unrelated note, have you seen Grey Gardens? This documentary was made in 1975, and it takes place in the home of Jackie Kennedy Onassis' aunt and cousin in the Hamptons. I love, love this strange movie! At first you think you are just watching this kooky mother and daughter fight over nonsense, live in a mess, mess, mess of a house, and replay the same script each day. But actually, its a really beautiful story you never want to end. The daughter has a very unique style, and you can't help but want to know more about these women. I want you to watch it, so I won't give away details.
